Do you know the numbers? Do you know the stories?

386 infants died of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in 2011—more than the number children under five who died in car accidents; and more than the number of adults and children who died of food allergies; and more than the number who died of influenza, choking on hot dogs, and from accidents involving drop-side cribs combined.

Being fed formula is a risk factor; studies suggest that using donor milk instead would cut the risk of NEC by about 79%.
